POB Digiworld JU informs about a competitive selection process for the post of an ASSISTANT PROFESSOR in the research staff / research and faculty staff member group at the Institute of Applied Computer Science of the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science JU in academic field of Information and communication technology with regard to applications of computing technologies and/or Artificial Intelligence.
The competitive selection process is open for all individuals, who meet the requirements set out in Articles 113 and 116.2.3) of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science, and who meet the following eligibility criteria according to § 165 of the Statute of the Jagiellonian University:
1. holding at least a doctoral degree,
2. having relevant scientific achievements,
3. taking active part in scientific life,
4. having experience in teaching.
Additionally:
5. The doctoral degree was obtained at other institution then Jagiellonian University,
6. have published in renowned journals or conferences (the conferences should appear on the CORE list in years 2014-2021); This should include journals and/or conferences attributed by the ministry to the academic field of information and communication technology (the list of those journals can be found on the ministry website: https://www.gov.pl/web/edukacja-i-nauka/nowy-rozszerzony-wykaz-czasopism- naukowych-i-recenzowanych-materialow-z-konferencji-miedzynarodowych),
7. have presented their work on international conferences and symposia.
The ideal candidate should also meet the following criteria:
- have experience in interdisciplinary scientific work and/or in cooperation with the socio-economic environment,
- have documented experience in organizational and project work, in particular in the implementation of research projects financed from external sources by way of a competition and in raising funds for research from such sources,
- have experience in international academic cooperation with leading research centers,
- be able to actively cooperate with other members of the research group,
- have experience in popularizing science or innovative education,
- have an excellent command of the spoken and written English language.
Expectations:
- publishing articles in reputable magazines or at conferences from the CORE list for which the Jagiellonian University is the only Polish affiliation,
- submitting at least one application for an external Polish or international grant affiliated with the Jagiellonian University within 24 months of starting work at the Jagiellonian University,
- engaging scientists from the Jagiellonian University academic community in research work, in particular, topics related to:
- the use of artificial intelligence methods in computer-aided design and knowledge processing,
- methods of intelligent data mining and knowledge modeling in intelligent systems,
- programming graphics cards with particular emphasis on RTX technology,
- Monte-Carlo simulations based on neural networks,
- programming of FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) for acceleration of calculations and data processing in real-time systems.
- conducting didactic activities to be negotiable dimension (in accordance with the Work Regulations of the Jagiellonian University).
The employment period is 30 months.
Jagiellonian University offers a full-time salary comprising base remuneration and pay enhancement granted for 30 months. Moreover, a successful candidate will be awarded a research grant for the duration of 30 months.

2. a draft plan of scientific research to be carried out while employed at the Jagiellonian University in the scope of the research domain "advanced computational methods and artificial intelligence" POB DigiWorld (see, https://digiworld.id.uj.edu.pl/o-pob "Description of the research area"),
3. curriculum vitae containing: list of publications, list of awards and distinctions obtained, list of internships and stays in research units, a list of completed and ongoing research projects (as a manager or contractor) with an indication of funding sources,
4. personal questionnaire filled in by the candidate,
5. copy of the doctoral diploma or a diploma confirming the candidate’s habilitation degree, if applicable,
6. information on the candidate’s scientific, teaching and organizational achievements,
7. information concerning educational activities carried out by the candidate, if any,
8. doctoral dissertation or habilitation dissertation review, if applicable,
9. two recommendations concerning the candidate’s research and teaching work, issued by the head of the organizational unit or a scientific supervisor, including the results of student surveys and evaluations, if the candidate was subject to such evaluation,
10. declaration of the candidate, confirming that the Jagiellonian University will be their primary place of work, should they be selected in the competitive selection process,
11. declaration under Article 113 of the Law on Higher Education and Science,
12. declaration on acknowledging and accepting the rules and regulations concerning intellectual property management and commercialisation in force at the Jagiellonian University,
13. information regarding processing of personal data. Selected candidates will be invited for an online interview.
